The University of Ghent does not offer courses in South Indian Languages, however when in need of a course in Malayalam, many other options are available. In time, the University of Ghent might offer Intensive Courses of a few days, however this is not possible at the moment. For people interested in studying this language I therefore offer a few tips.
Rodney F. Moag (1985), Malayalam: A University Course and Reference Grammar. Amma, C. L. M. (1998). Learn Malayalam in Thirty Days, Madras, Balaji Publications. Andrewskutty, A. P. (1971). Malayalam: An Intensive Course, Trivandrum, Dravidian Linguistic Association. |

The department of South Asian Studies (Indologie) at the University of Tübingen, Germany, offers yearly introductory courses of Malayalam. Assisted by a native speaker and an experienced Kerala specialist, the students learn the basics from Moag's textbook. The Malayalam IV Course in 2013 resulted in the enactment of a small play, written by the students. You can find last year's participants and the teacher, dr. Heike Moser (utter right), in the picture below.
